An old Earth in the name of Corbin ...

On a map dating from 1811 there are five castles, not far from each other, all bearing the name of Corbin. As in many estates in Bordeaux, successive owners have left their mark, including a Prince of Wales and Baron Saint-Georges.
The latter was the first, at the end of the 18th century, to imagine the planting of a large vineyard on the perimeter of Corbin... This visionary man undeniably marked the history of the Libourne vineyard. During the French Revolution, the seigniory will be seized as national property and dismembered, and the Baron, named Guillaume Ignace Bouchereau will be forced to leave the lands of Corbin.

The new destiny of Château Grand Corbin …

In 1986, the SMA Group, Mutual Insurance Company for Building and Public Works, acquired the Château. Two years later, on September 6, 2012, the Château was promoted to the rank of Grand Cru Classé!

The vineyard

Today, the Grand Corbin vineyard extends in one piece over 37 ha of which 28.5 ha are Grand Crus Classés of Saint Emilion. A real structure that allows great ambitions. The necessary means have been invested to modernize the infrastructure and embellish the building from the end of the 19th century: “Functionality, refinement and comfort, this is what guides our choices” , insists Philippe Dambrine, director of the insurer's wine subsidiary.

Wine

Thanks to the expertise and know-how of an experienced team, the latest vintages confirm the progress made both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Wines with silky and suave tannins, with a nose marked by truffles, a discreet woodiness and a few touches of mocha. Freshness, elegance, shine are the other characteristics. The blue clays give these wines structure, density and ensure real aging potential.
